advertisement bombardment

Everyday we as a society visit million of websites.  What we often don't notice though is all the advertisements we are viewing. Companies pay marketing agencies and websites billions of dollars a year to "get their name out there".  Go to a website you find interesting (post a link to this blog).  Look through the page and take note of the advertising.  How many ads are on the homepage? (post this in your response)  Had you ever noticed them before?  Do you use any of the products that are being promoted?

Read the following article.  Would you pay for this service?  Do you think Twitter should charge for this tracking device?  Have you ever thought about how advertising is so integrated into everything we are exposed to on a daily basis?  What is another example of this "subtle" advertising?

I use this site to find guitar chords to songs which is helpful for practice and convienient... BUT once i go to search a song for the chords or tabs, and i get to the listongs of the possible search ADS pop up as well as the sound is ultra loud. Sometimes it gets in my way becasue they pop up in the middle of the screen. As well, there are no ways to shut them up or occasionally close out of them. Sucks butt...
    I dislike certain advertising...

  4. i personaly believe twitter is for tweeters. for sure. and i think that twitter is not going to charge for this device becuase if they do facebook will for sure win this battle. and i have thought that advertising is targeted at what we do on a daily basis, they have to in order to get business.

I think twitter should not charge, it should be free for users. I would not pay for the service.

  6. There were two adds on the page. I usually don't play close attention to advertisements unless it is something I am interested in.

I would not pay for this service because I would never use it. I have always noticed advertising but I usually don't think about it. Another example of subtle advertising would be a billboard or a poster/flier.

There are 4 advertising ads on this homepage all having to do with promoting athletes. Gatorade, recruiting magazines, vertical jump equipment, and nike advertising. I have owned nike products before I even belonged to this website. I don't feel like this website influences me to buy nike products or to drink gatorade, I rarely ever even look at the ads unless they pop up and I have to close out of them.

I think twitter is using this to draw more people in. If this news caused a writer to actually write and post something about it, it seems as if it drew him into it too. Advertising is everywhere so if someone is paying for it or if it's free advertising it will never come to end. Companies want to get their products exposed to become profitable. Facebook has subtle advertising. I think the only time I've actually ever clicked on facebook advertising was on accident.

  10. http://www.yahoo.com/

There was only one AD, and it was Best Buy AD. I buy cds and some other stuff from Best Buy.

I wouldn't pay for it because I don't use twitter, but it should be free for users.

It really only had one advertisment on it's home page which was for a video game on ps3, xbox, and wii. The rest were all for other espn things like fantasy sports and such. I have noticed them before, and do use some of the products especailly fantasy football.

No I would not pay for this service. I think they should after they get people hooked on it because then they could make alot of money. No I have not really thought about how everything is advertising, but once you think about it everything is. Another example of subtle advertising would be outfield signs on baseball feilds.

The first thing that poped up when I went to abcnews was a huge ad for burlington coat factory. There were 2 ads total on the page, but they were the same thing. I do notice ads, especially when they are the kind you have to close so you can see whatever page you were on before. But I never click on them. Even if the product intrests me.

No, I wouldn't pay for something I don't use. If twiter decides to start charging, they might lose users. Yes I have thought about it, most the time I find it annoying. You can find "Subtle" advertising in magazines too.

No i would not pay for this service. I would never use it. I notice advertisements, but rarely pay attention to them. No i dont think twitter should charge for this. I have thought about how some advertisements relate things to the world we're living in. Advertising is everywhere, and there will never be an end to it. Another subtle advertising would be like, park benches or buildboards.
